Chris speaks!
After what may have felt like an endless pregnancy, Baby Lo was finally born on Aug. 5. Kailyn’s pregnancy was one of the most talked about in Teen Mom history, mostly because there were so many moving parts. At first, Kailyn denied that she was pregnant at all. When she admitted it, it was a while before she revealed the father’s identity. It soon became clear why: Her baby daddy, Chris Lopez, made it perfectly clear that he wanted nothing to do with his baby.
He all but dropped off the face of the earth. No one expected Chris to show up in the delivery room, let alone have anything to do with Baby Lo once he was born. But Chris has surprised all of us, including Kailyn herself, by showing up for the delivery and going home with Kailyn after the birth to spend time with the new mother and son. Now, Chris is finally opening up and speaking out about his new son.

Normally when a baby daddy is revealed, they end up in the public eye of the Teen Mom fanbase. With Chris Lopez, it was the opposite. After Kailyn revealed that he was the father, he became the mystery man of the show; fans knew very little about him. All that we had to go off was what Kailyn and those close to her revealed.
She opened up about the pregnancy itself, saying, “I’ve had a lot of health complications leading up to this pregnancy and I was not ready to release such private information on my own just yet being that I am so high risk with this pregnancy. I didn’t want to announce just to have another miscarriage and suffer through another grief.”

It was clear to fans that it was a complicated pregnancy, whether or not she had a supportive baby daddy. A source close to Kailyn told Hollywood Life that Kailyn was “still very, very angry with Chris but she’s trying not to let those emotions take over.” They said that she was trying to keep things positive before Baby Lo’s birth, but that she was finding it difficult not to become frustrated with Chris’s lackadaisical attitude.
“She wants to stay happy and positive for her kids, she hates it when they see her crying. She’s not letting her anger take over but she’s certainly not going to let Chris just skate away on this. She’s going after him,” the source added.
Another source said, “Kail became a relationship of convenience for him. He never actually loved her. It was a relationship, but he just decided he wanted something different and things didn’t work out, so they went their separate ways.” Kailyn corroborated this on her blog when she wrote, “I think I’m most worried about the changes ahead, but also that I will have this baby 24/7 by myself with no help. I’m going to be a single parent from the beginning!”
But now it looks like Chris may be playing more of a role in his child’s life than Kailyn expected. Chris opened up on his Twitter about his baby boy, writing, “My lil man put a smile on my face every time I look at him lol.” This confirms that he’s spending time with Baby Lo!

When asked about Chris’s relationship with his son, Kailyn told In Touch Weekly, “I think he has been as supportive as he can. He does the best to his ability even though it doesn’t necessarily meet the standards that everyone else expects of him. I think people need to keep that in mind.”
The two haven’t come to a formal custody agreement, but Kailyn says that the two are getting along well. She’s taking care of Baby Lo, but encourages Chris to visit and see him as often as possible. So despite all of the discussions during the pregnancy, it looks like things are looking up for this family.
