Another Custody Battle
All of the Teen Mom stars have had some amount of frustration with their baby daddies. It’s only natural for them to have difficulties when it comes to finding a common ground to raise their children. But Chris Lopez may just be one of the more scandalous fathers… because he wanted nothing to do with his son.
Soon after Kailyn revealed that Chris was her baby daddy, it became clear that Chris was not going to step up to the plate. He was nowhere to be seen during her pregnancy and multiple sources said that he didn’t even plan on coming to the hospital when Kailyn gave birth. Of course, things turned out for the best. Chris showed up at his son’s birth and has been stepping up as a father.
For anyone who’s been following Kailyn’s pregnancy, it’s surprising enough that Chris has even spent any time with Baby Lo, but the fact that now his mother is pushing for him to gain full custody of his son is even more shocking.

For much of the Teen Mom fanbase, it was unlikely that Chris was ever even going to meet his son. During Kailyn’s pregnancy, he was essentially nowhere to be seen. A source told Hollywood Life that, during her pregnancy, Kailyn was “very, very angry with Chris but she’s trying not to let those emotions take over.” They went on, “She wants to stay happy and positive for her kids, she hates it when they see her crying. She’s not letting her anger take over but she’s certainly not going to let Chris just skate away on this. She’s going after him.”
So when Chris showed up at the hospital, it was a shock to much of the fanbase. In an interview with Radar Online, Kail said, “I think I was always hoping [Chris] would come, but just based on how our relationship has been, there was always like a question whether he would have his phone on him or would he be at work… But I’m so glad he came.”

It was even more of a surprise when Chris stepped up and proved that he did want to be in his son’s life. After going to Kailyn’s home after her birth to take care of his son, he continued to make an appearance in the infant’s life. Recently, a source told Hollywood Life that Kail and Chris are spending more time together than ever.
They said, “Kailyn and Chris have been spending more time together since the baby’s birth, trying to make the whole difficult situation work. He is doing his best to be a good father and to treat Kailyn better. Chris loves their little baby and wants to make sure he has a healthy relationship with Kailyn.”
They source went on, “They are both a bit overwhelmed with the new baby and have not been getting enough sleep. But he is there and doing what he feels is the right thing. Kailyn is happy that he is present and helping with diapers and late night feedings, so all is well with them… for now at least.”
Chris even took to Twitter to share his excitement about spending time with his son, writing, “My lil man put a smile on my face every time I look at him.”

Fans were surprised that Chris wanted to spend any time with his son, so it should go without saying that it’s pretty shocking he might be fighting for full custody. Why this sudden change of heart? Well, according to a source who spoke with The Hollywood Gossip, it’s at his mother’s urging. She’s pushing him to “apply for full time custody of her grandchild.”
The source explains that this isn’t Chris’s intention. They say, “Chris has no desire to try and take his kid away from Kailyn, but his mom is concerned about visitation rights.” Apparently, his mother isn’t too keen on Kailyn’s “lifestyle” and doesn’t like “the fact that she has three children from three fathers.” Instead of staying with Kailyn, “Chris’ mom really wants Baby Lo to be raised by her family and standards,” according to the source.
This might not be the only stress in Kailyn and Chris’s relationship. According to The Hollywood Gossip’s source, their co-parenting is “just not working out.” They claim that, “At this point, having raised two babies already, Kailyn is an expert when it comes to caring for the baby. Frankly, Chris is just getting in her way and causing extra problems.”
