She wants to make it official!
Sometimes it’s easy to forget how many years the Teen Mom girls have been on the show. That is… until you realize how old their children have gotten! The infants who changed the cast members’ lives when they were 16 are now nearly hitting double digits themselves. They’ve begun to display their own unique personalities.
Chelsea Houska’s daughter Aubree is seven years old already, which means she’s old enough to make many of her own decisions. So when Chelsea discussed whether she’d like to change her last name to match her stepfather Cole, it was up to Aubree to decide what she’d like to do.

Monday’s episode of Teen Mom 2 made some waves in the fanbase, and it may have also made smaller waves within the DeBoer home itself!
Chelsea Houska formally married Cole Deboer a year ago. Because she was pregnant with her son Watson at the time, she didn’t want to have a large wedding. She and Cole were married in a small ceremony with only family and close friends. For their one year anniversary, they celebrated with a bigger wedding ceremony that they shared with fans on social media.
Now that Chelsea Houska is officially Chelsea DeBoer, she had a question to ask her daughter Aubree…
Aubree took her father Adam Lind’s name when she was born. So she and Chelsea never had the same last name, as Chelsea pointed out.
Chelsea revealed that she had been in talks with her lawyer to have Aubree’s name adjusted since Chelsea was married. Instead of taking Lind off of her name, Chelsea wanted to simply add DeBoer, making her daughter Aubree Lind-DeBoer. “I don’t think [my lawyer] thinks the hyphenating thing will be that difficult — just because we’re not taking Lind off of it. I mean, we want it to be Lind-DeBoer,” Chelsea said.
She added, “And [Aubree]’s also said that she wants that. Part of both of the families she is in, and I just think it makes sense… I don’t see why [Adam and his family] would have a problem with it, but I’m sure they will.”

Before anything was finalized, Chelsea had to check with Aubree.
She called her daughter into the room to ask her directly.
“You know how you say sometimes you have two last names? I just wanted to know if you seriously wanted me to look into getting it to be Lind-DeBoer,” Chelsea said.
Aubree immediately said yes and began nodding her head. Chelsea asked, “You honestly do? … Why is it important for you to have both on there?” Aubree replied, “I just want both!”
“So what would your name be if we changed it?” Chelsea asked. Aubree excitedly replied, “Aubree Skye Lind-DeBoer!”
“Then you can have the same last name as your brother and your mom,” Chelsea pointed out. “And I don’t want anyone to tell you that it’s not okay for you to feel that. Cause I don’t know if it’ll bother your other dad or them.” Aubree said, “No, I don’t think so.”
